ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY (IN-ORTS-IUINA)
Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Orthopaedic
Surgery provides collaborative and comprehensive clinical and
academic training for the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons.
The team's world-class faculty are highly trained in an array of
orthopaedic subspecialties and are committed to the continuation of
orthopaedic excellence.
Assists in conducting research in hematopoietic-bone cell
interactions and bone healing utilizing various research techniques
and procedures.
Conducts a wide range of experiments with a degree of independence
and willingness to learn new techniques (Ongoing experiments
include NIH and VA funded research in aging fracture healing and
pain studies as well as alzheimer's and fracture studies).
Utilizes standard molecular and cell biology techniques such as
PCR, gel electrophoresis, light and fluorescent microscopy, FACS
(staining and analysis), and reagent preparation.
Responsible for animal handling.
Performs tasks using MS Office, prism, micro CT reconstruction
software, bone histomorphometry software, bone histomorphometry,
bone biomechanics, micro CT, X-ray, and dexa imaging.
Monitors inventory levels of needed materials, supplies, and
equipment in support of research projects.
Prepares supplies for appropriate use in field experiments.

The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work
environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment
effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing
up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical
parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the
essential functions with or without an accommodation.
This position is grant funded with expected annual renewals.
Renewals are contingent on the availability of grant funds.
