DepartmentPED-PULMONOLOGY (IN-PPUL-IUINA) Job SummaryThe
Division of Pediatric Pulmonology is seeking a Financial
Administration Specialist. This position will assist the division
Business Manager in exercising fiscal responsibility over multiple
operating budget accounts including managing internal IU and
external sponsored projects from various funding
sources.Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Serves as the grant specialist for the division, including the
creation of project budgets and coordinating submission of grants,
progress reports, and other sponsored research activity with a
particular emphasis on clinical research trial study accounts for
pre and post-award account management including budget negotiation
and study management, including analysis and auditing of vendor
account billing.
- Serves as the fiscal delegate to initiate and/or approve
travel, purchasing, HRMS, and Kuali Financial System (KFS)
documents.
- Evaluates and approves expenditures before they route to the
Business Manager.
- Produces, designs, maintains, and analyzes periodic and ad-hoc
financial reports and grant account statements for the Business
Manager and faculty.
- Exercises full financial management authority in the absence of
the Business Manager.
- Backs-up the Business Manager for all financial management
activities, including account balance reconciliation for major
grants, development and analysis of financial reports, and
authorizing financial information system transactions.
- Performs other related duties related to academic operations in
the division.General Responsibilities
- Using knowledge and application of accepted procedures and
standards, performs financial and administrative tasks related to
managing the daily and long-term financial and/or administrative
operations of an organizational unit or an academic, research, and
teaching department within a school or college.
- Makes recommendations on policies and guidelines for
division/department activities.
- Monitors expenditures and statement of accounts to ensure
regulatory compliance and fiscal integrity.
- Manages general appropriation, endowment, federal and
non-federal grants and contracts, and gift funds.
- Develops, plans, and makes recommendations on special projects,
which may include space allocations, staffing, equipment purchases,
and long-range plans.
- Prepares operating and project budget drafts independently
and/or in coordination with other finance staff.
- Regularly explains financial concepts to non-financial
employees.
- Monitors division/departmental budgets and resolves or
recommends resolutions for any significant deviations from approved
budgets.
- May conduct a variety of human resources activities including
employment, labor relations, benefits, training, and classification
for unit/department.QualificationsCombinations of related education

- Ability to interpret financial documents from an accounting,
policy, and practice perspectiveWorking Conditions / DemandsThis
role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate
a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The
position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving
around an office environment and the campus. The person in this
role must be able to perform the essential functions with or
without an accommodation.Additional Information$50,000 - $60,000
per year based on experience, skill level, education, and
trainingWork LocationIndianapolis, IndianaThis position is eligible
to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work),
subject to change in the future based on university policy and
