Job SummaryThe Regional Director, Goodwill Education Initiatives (GEI) is responsible for the academic oversight and performance of all schools within the GEI network, including The Excel Center and the Indianapolis Metropolitan High School. The School Directors report directly to the Regional Director, GEI and meet regularly regarding instructional, operational, and/or personnel inquiries. Performance goals and benchmarks are set to assist School Directors in monitoring school achievement and progress. Along with those goals, hands-on support and a mentoring process are developed to assist each school in achieving goals and outcomes. In addition to providing oversight to GEI's schools, the Regional Director is responsible for the successful leadership and implementation of additional GEI initiatives, which may include such areas as curriculum and instruction; Special Education; English language learners; or GEI's work in the areas of justice-involved populations; diversity, equity, and inclusion, and other school-based projects. This role requires 100% local travel to each of the organization's school locations. Example Duties and ActivitiesWorks directly with School Directors to develop the essential competencies of an Excel Center School leader and models these competencies in their routine interactions with School Directors, staff, and students. The building blocks of success include Accountability Performance, Student Performance, Financial Performance, Compliance Requirements, Enrollment, Evaluation and Development, and Post-Secondary Success.Implements corporate-wide processes, procedures, and goals within each school. Monitors the integrity of the essential components of The Excel Center and the Indianapolis Metropolitan High School model with respect to authorizer and/or DOE rules, regulations, and requirements. Utilizes data to observe school performance and provides updates to School Director and Senior Director on a biweekly basis. Routinely meets with School Directors to proactively address any areas of concern.Partners with School Directors for fiscal management and oversight while working in conjunction with the Director, GEI Financial Operations.Assists in involving local stakeholders by working to establish a strong Community Advisory team that offers a representation of local businesses, agencies, and leaders. Partners with GEI central staff to solidify relationships that include: local legislatures and political leaders (i.e. Mayor, State Representative, City/County Council), service providers, training providers, and workforce development initiators, and with our internal marketing team when connecting local media outlets including newspaper and television stations (where applicable).Works with employer partnerships and Talent Source representatives to bridge relationships and increase student placement opportunities.Works closely with GCSI supportive services available, including Goodwill network internal resources, Central Office, IT and Data, the Talent Acquisition Team, Human Resources, etc.Ensures compliance in Department of Education, Special Education, and authorizer audits.Uses an adaptation of the RISE rubric and school performance metrics to will evaluate School Directors and provide timely, evidence-based feedback for each Director.Drives shared vision in coaching, college and career readiness, data analytics, or curriculum by convening stakeholders from across the schools, central office, and GCSI.


Required CompetenciesDegree and Credential Requirements - Bachelor's degree in education, curriculum, special populations, leadership, or other related relevant fields.Academic Leadership - Has managed groups of professionals and worked with diverse systems and people to achieve organizational goals, as a School Director or other equivalent academic leadership role. Exhibits leadership qualities of integrity, accountability, empathy, humility, resilience, vision, influence, and positivity.Communication Skills - Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend others' needs. Delivers information in person, in writing, and in a digital world.Organizational Aptitude - Plans and attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing multiple tasks in an organized and timely fashion. Exhibits careful attention to detail and follow-through.Technical Knowledge - Has working knowledge of G Suite and MS Office, as well as student information systems.

Informed Decision-Making - Identifies and comprehends issues, problems, and opportunities; compares data from different sources to draw conclusions; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; takes action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.

Adaptability - Maintains effectiveness when experiencing shifts in priorities; adjusts effectively while maintaining a positive learning environment. Preferred CompetenciesIndustry Standards - Displays a working knowledge of the Indiana Academic Standards, Next Level Programs of Study, Common Core State Standards, and 21st Century Skills and knowledge of disciplinary literacy.
