Job Description:
Job DescriptionThe Dev/Ops Engineer works in DWD's information
technology division, under general direction, carrying out a CI/CD
pipeline creation and maintenance for a wide variety of complex
applications and reports to the infrastructure manager.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Active driver for Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
(CI/CD) based application development Understanding, learning and
applying new automated build, test and deployment capabilities and
help develop project teams towards integrating such solutions Code
collaboration and version control using tools such as Git,
Bitbucket, Artifactory, Nexus Container and machine deployment,
using tools such as Docker and Kubernetes. Configuration management
and deployment automation using tools such as, CircleCi, Drone,
Ansible, Puppet, and Chef. Cloud technologies such as Microsoft
Azure Web server, reverse proxy, load balancer, mail proxy and HTTP
caching using NGINX. Infrastructure-as-Code (IAC) methods and best
practices using tools such as Packer, Terraform, and
CloudFormation. Planning, tracking, and managing of Agile software
development projects using tools such as JIRA. Linux system
administration Design, propose, facilitate organizational and
process improvements as needed for supporting automation and
DevSecOps. Scripting languages such as Perl, Python, C/C++
Knowledge of network, server, database and container architecture
Maintain adherence to architectural standards/principles, global
product-specific guidelines, usability design standards, etc.
Knowledge of network, server, database and application-status
monitoring Resolve and act as escalation and coordination point for
incidents and problems related to affected automation Performs
related duties as required.

Requirements:
Strong skillset and experience establishing CI/CD pipelines using
Jira, Jenkins, and Bitbucket. Strong skillset on integrating
Automated Function and Performance tests within pipelines General
Networking skills expected Experience with Docker containers and
Kubernetes and other types of Microservices and Container
technologies highly preferred Configuration management and
deployment automation using tools such as AWSCodeDeploy, CircleCi,
Drone, Ansible, Puppet, and Chef. Jenkins Continuous Integration /
Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) Well versed in internet architectures,
including web, application, and database components Ability to read
and understand complicated technical manuals. Need to document
things in Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in
writing Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role does
not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
Difficulty of Work: The Dev/Ops Engineer performs a broad range of
activities within a state-of-the-art Information Technology area.
Work involves using considerable judgment in selecting the most
pertinent guidelines to follow and in-depth analysis of multiple
variables to fit various circumstances of a medium to complex
enterprise-wide system. Incumbent applies general Software
Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles and industry standards to
accomplish agency automation goals.
Responsibility: The Dev/Ops Engineer work has a direct influence
and impact on the agency's ability to successfully administer the
business operation to achieve agency mission, policy and/or
practice. Technical instruction is generally not needed; however,
employee may seek guidance when unique problems arise. Work is
reviewed for adherence to deadlines and compliance with policies,
standards, procedures, and achievement of the desired
objectives.
Personal Work Relationships: This individual will be expected to
partner with agency personnel and related stakeholders working
towards completion of assigned functions. Exceptional customer
service is provided to agency partners and/or the general
public.
Physical Effort: This role performs work in an environment where
sitting for extended periods of time could be expected.
What We're Looking For: You're an ideal candidate if you have a BS
degree in Computer Science and/or 5+ years of applicable
experience.

recognize that some absences cannot be planned and those will be
