Our expert recruiters support you at every step in the process and as a Best of Staffing company, Sterling provides exciting work with exceptional employers across the U.S. - -Hire Type: - Contract - As a contract employee of Sterling Engineering, you are eligible to receive a - Full Employee Benefits Package that includes paid time off, paid holidays, 3 medical plans to choose from, dental & vision plans, 401(k), and an Employee Stock Ownership (ESOP) plan. -Job Summary: - This is a multi-year project, working onsite during the development and construction of a new pharmaceutical manufacturing campus. -Project Background:Our global pharmaceutical manufacturing client is developing a new greenfield API manufacturing site in the Indianapolis, Indiana area. This site will include multiple API manufacturing facilities, tank farms, truck & rail loading/unloading, clean and grey utilities, warehousing, lab and administrative facilities. - The site will feature state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing including continuous and batch manufacturing, advanced chemical synthesis, as well as leading edge separation and purification processes. A specific project focus will be toward sustainable designs, lean construction delivery, environmental sustainability, waste minimization including water reclamation and solvent recovery.The project is currently in early design. Verification will commence during design (2023) and complete in 2027. - Phased construction is expected to begin in 2023 and end in 2026. - Owner qualification and validation will complete in 2027-2028. - -Role Expectations: - The Process Engineer will work as part of a multidisciplinary project engineering team located on site or with the owner design, automation, construction, and verification teams. Previous design or operations experience in the Pharmaceutical industry is essential.
The overall project role will cover these duties over a 24-60 month duration. - This role will report directly to the Project Manager or Engineering Lead. - The role is expected to work on site for the majority of the time.
Role Responsibilities:

  • Process development of PFDs, P&IDs, Material and/or Energy Balances
  • Preparation and/or review/approval of specifications for process equipment
  • Interface with supplier' s engineers to prepare technical bid analysis and recommendations
  • Design of process equipment, material & personnel flows, process utilities, waste streams
  • Owner liaison, attendance, and likely action items at project meetings
  • Design support and input to the Planning and Project Construction and Verification teams.
  • The opportunity to work on a range of projects, from conceptual through to detailed design, commissioning and qualification/verification.
  • Generate, own, and update of process-specific documents for all project stages (design, construction, C&Q, start-up, operation and/or maintenance).
  • Responsible for the process safety and compliance with hazardous electrical standards
  • Participation in Process Hazard Assessments/HAZOP/FMEA/Environmental studies.
  • Approval and possibly execution of Automation Requirements and C&Q/Verification documentation
  • Ability to assess impact, own, and manage project change via RFI or change processes
  • Completion of Design Risk Assessments; Participation in Technical and Safety reviews -Role Requirements:
    • Bachelor' s Degree in a relevant Engineering field.
    • 3-10 years of relevant experience in the design, commissioning, and qualification of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facilities, along with associated processes.
    • Organized - and adaptable with a flexible approach to Process/Project Engineering.
