We are seeking a VP of North America Operations--to join our dynamic team! This position could be located anywhere in the central or eastern time zones in North America as it will work remotely and will require travel 25-50% of the time. The VP of North America Operations holds direct management responsibility for Research Models animal production at 11 locations, primarily serving customers in North America. The VP has full authority over people, process, equipment and physical plant in support of animal production at these locations .-- The person in this role will need to be an excellent communicator, proactive problem-solver and a have excellent follow-through. We are seeking someone that is a people leader, mentor, has a teamwork mentality and positive attitude. The VP of Operations will contribute to the Envigo team by:

  • Participating as a member of the Global Operations Leadership Team.
  • Holding primary accountability for operational performance in the areas of quality of our animal research models (health status, genetics).
  • Ensuring reliable availability of animal research models to satisfy customer demand, productivity and cost management.
  • Holding responsibility for the welfare of the animals under our care.
  • Being accountable for the health, safety and security of employees within his/her organization.
  • Serving as the Operations Leader of the EGOP Envigo Global Operations Team EGOP, which is a cross functional group composed of a core team of NA Leaders. As a member of the EGOP, the VP will serve as ultimate point of accountability for NA animal production.
  • Focusing efforts on identifying, prioritizing, improving and managing business processes, operating procedures, recruitment and training activity, and other practices in order to drive ongoing improvement and implementation of global processes owned by the central functional organization of Operations.
  • Acting as a multi-site leader, areas of accountability will include on-time delivery, quality, effective project management, and communication with customers in connection with our animal production activities.
  • Holding accountability for cost control and productivity levels in alignment with Operations financial plans as this role will also have ultimate accountability for the welfare of the animals under our care and the health and safety of employees within his/her organization.
  • Ensuring that effective leadership and management practices are established at each location under his/her authority, sufficient for the effective week-to-week or month-to-month operation of these facilities in line with company practices and operating procedures.
  • Occasionally participating in client development activities, technical services activities, interaction with regulatory authorities, external and internal audits, and strategic projects or initiatives in support of the overall development of the Operations business in North America and on a global level. To be successful in this role, this position requires that the VP of Operations brings:
    • Minimum Bachelor's degree in related technical field, with preference for advanced degree in veterinary science or in applicable technical or medical field.
    • Robust past experience through both formal training and minimum 5 years of work experience in management of complex Animal Care or manufacturing in a highly regulated environment where quality management and quality systems are paramount.
    • Demonstrated track record in effective management and optimization of production, manufacturing and/or related business processes/procedures to realize improvement in quality, customer service and financial performance
    • Candidate should have significant past experience driving process improvement utilizing established methodologies (such as Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma) and should demonstrate the capability to identify, prioritize, and realize concrete improvement opportunities.
    • Minimum of 5 years work experience managing multi-site network of Operations facilities; large, complex organization; or other professional experience that clearly demonstrates readiness to take on similar type of management challenge.
    • Evidence of people leadership and people management skills and experience that will allow candidate to assemble, develop and maintain a strong organization of leaders, managers and front-line technicians with his/her scope of authority. Actions in this area to include clarification of roles and responsibilities, removal of poor performers, and recruitment/development of new leaders
    • Customer-focused orientation, willing and able to collaborate effectively with both internal "customers" (e.g. sales team) and external customers to understand and exceed customer requirements in support of growth strategy
    • Robust financial management skills. Capable and comfortable in analysis and use of financial statements and in direction of staff and deployment of resources to meet or exceed expectations in areas of productivity and cost management. It would be a bonus if the VP of Operations has:
      • Direct past experience or significant exposure to breeding, husbandry or management of rodent or other animal models for use in biomedical research.
      • Direct past experience providing goods or services to the pharmaceutical, biomedical research, or other life sciences field.
