Your Role as Director of Talent and Diversity
The Director of Talent and Diversity is a new role at Tangram that
will serve as a senior leader and change agent responsible for
driving the vision and ongoing implementation of diversity, equity,
and inclusion efforts with an eye toward ensuring that Tangram
attracts, retains, and develops key talent. The position requires a
high degree of independent judgment and subject matter expertise.
Empathy and strong interpersonal skills are essential for the
Director of Talent and Diversity. You must excel at working
cross-functionally and building relationships with all levels of
the organization to identify challenges and opportunities. You play
an active role in leading the efforts to determine the right
organizational structure and people to support the strategic
objectives that result in a greater impact.
This position will frequently act on behalf of the President/CEO in
both private and public spaces and must represent the organization
competently in complex and rapidly changing contexts. To do so
effectively, the Director of Talent and Diversity must be a clear
and direct communicator who can collaboratively address challenges,
consistently recognizing diverse and sometimes opposing viewpoints.
You must also be fluent across multiple disciplines including
serving as a policy and program designer, strategist, and culture
champion. The performance of the Director of Talent and Diversity
will be evaluated both on the measurable outcomes of their work and
the manner of accomplishing those objectives. In short, the
Director of Talent and Diversity is as much a "doer" as a "thinker"
and enables team members to achieve their highest potential and
make a profound impact on the organization.
The Director of Talent and Diversity is integral to the culture,
effectiveness, and impact of Tangram:
People, Culture, and Organizational Development:
Establish and implement the Talent Management (TM) vision and
infrastructure to accelerate impact.
Collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization to
develop and integrate workforce planning and analysis, talent
acquisition, learning and leadership development, performance
management, professional development, succession planning, and
rewards.
Design an onboarding process and engagement plans.
Closely monitor the ongoing progress of talent-related initiatives
across the organization and proactively adjust based on needs.
Supervise and develop the HR and Talent team members, providing
alignment to organizational objectives to ensure the Human
Resources team provides strong day-to-day support for employees
while creating an inviting and cohesive employee experience.
Serve as an objective advisor to employees at all levels of the
organization.
Human Resources Operations, including Systems, Infrastructure, and
Policies:
Improve HR infrastructure including systems, processes, and
workflows.
Develop and implement HR policies and programs including employee
relations, recruiting and staffing, wage and salary administration,
benefits, harassment and discrimination, and management
training.
Ensure the Human Resources team provides strong day-to-day support
for employees with inquiries regarding benefits, payroll, and other
employment issues and inquiries.
Support and directly execute the day-to-day HR operations to ensure
that all aspects of the HR team and functions are operating
seamlessly and at a pace that meets the organizational demand.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:
Conduct a DEI assessment and develop a holistic
plan/curriculum.
Lead the Tangram DEI taskforce and coordinate the DEI board
committee and facilitate the creation of a DEI strategic plan and
lead the successful implementation of this organizational
priority.
Manage formal and informal programs so that staff members across
all levels can engage in building their DEI competency.
Design key talent strategies and evaluate issues, including
succession planning, leadership development, employee retention,
compensation and benefits, to ensure equity.
Design and monitor DEI and culture metrics to recommend actions to
help achieve our goals and assess the overall effectiveness of our
continued efforts.
Compliance:
Oversee external vendors to ensure that compensation, benefits, and
other aspects of the organization's personnel infrastructure
operate with both exceptional accuracy and a strong customer
service orientation.
Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations
employment laws.
Oversee all employment compliance issues, working closely as
necessary with the Executive Committee and legal counsel.
What You Bring
As a Director of Talent and Diversity, you must have a master's or
bachelor's degree and bring a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant
experience. You have exceptional experience in leading Talent
Management efforts with a demonstrated record of success. In
addition to having a strong emotional intelligence acumen, you have
experience driving DEI learning and programming, building an
effective DEI strategic plan, and a robust background and
experience leading in talent management and Human Resources
including recruiting, payroll, benefits, and employee relations to
name a few. You bring prior success in leading organizational
change management efforts. These elements come alive through your
