What You'll Contribute:

The Vice President of Collection Analytics & Reporting is accountable for Sallie Mae's private student loan and credit card channel strategies and portfolio and operation reporting. This role will set the strategic direction for, digital and channel strategies to include mail, email, text and mobile app, as well as set direction within collections for online functionality and enhancements. Additionally, the Vice President will be responsible for leading both the operation and delinquent portfolio reporting teams. The ideal leader will have an extensive background in analytics, loss forecasting, and collection strategies. Finally, the VP will need a strong knowledge or background in developing/managing controls, Sallie Mae's collections framework, and regulatory requirements.

This is a senior leadership position with high exposure to Sallie Mae's Executive Committee, governance committees, and bank examiners.

What You'll Do:

Collection Channel Strategies and Analytics (75%):

* Leader responsible for setting the vision and establishing the roadmap to design and analyze collection channel strategies.
* Responsible for development and execution of collection strategies for Private Student Loan and Credit Card portfolios.
* Responsible for the collections digital strategy, including development, A/B testing, and monitoring of results.
* Partner with Portfolio Management Group to proactively identify, develop, implement, and monitor strategies.
* Lead ad-hoc projects, initiatives, and analyses requested by the Head of Collections, Fraud and Banking, Risk Management, Compliance, Audit, or Regulators
* Collaborate with Operations and Technology partners to establish a digital collection strategy that allows borrowers to self-enroll into payment programs.
* Develop segmentation within the Collections portfolio to effectively implement strategies.
* Responsible for communicating risks, trends, and analytic insights to key stakeholders and governance committees.

Portfolio and Operational Reporting (25%):

* Develop and maintain operation reporting to provide metric necessary to manage a 400+ collection operation.
* Own metrics gathering and drive processes to operationalize reporting, track performance indicators and build dashboards to proactively highlight opportunities and recommend solutions
* Develop monthly reporting package for multiple audiences including executive committee members, risk management and operations management.
* Actively monitor the performance of channel strategies and loss mitigation payment programs.
* Develop and maintain collection portfolio reporting to include payment programs, risk segmentation, and post default performance.
* Identify and implement tactical tools to improve collection performance.
* Be an expert on usage and interpretation of data and be able to explain the nuances to business users in a clear and concise manner.
* Support regulatory requests as needed.

What You Have:

* 12+ years of experience in credit analytics, credit strategy, or collection analytics and program development
* Experience with financial analyses and reporting
* Strong analytic & problem-solving skills
* Experience in managing, developing, and recruiting talent
* Ability to understand complex regulatory requirements
* Experience managing projects, planning, implementation, and reporting
* Build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
* Leadership skills including leading and delivering initiatives without direct supervision
* Experience working with strategies, policies, standards and procedures for portfolio management, and loss mitigation activities
* Proven ability to communicate effectively to all audience levels in a concise manner
* Ability to operate in a fast- paced, time-sensitive environment effectively managing multiple and changing priorities
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products
* Bachelor's Degree, Business, Economics, Statistics or related field or equivalent work experience
* Preferred: Advanced Degree
