Document Management Specialist - Remote in Central Time Zone

Optum Insight's Retrieval and Abstraction Operations (RAO) is an integrated team serving all UnitedHealth Group businesses, focused on delivering operational efficiencies for centralized activities. Document Management is integral to the success of HEDIS - hybrid data collection and support supplemental data efforts as well.

Document management is inherently complex given in addition to the requested documents, there are also invoices and miscellaneous responses or complaints that can be received when we engage with external groups. The complexity of our organization adds to the complications. The candidate must have a combination of excellent time management skills, as well as strong knowledge of Health Information Management processes. This candidate must be highly achievement oriented to execute on operational goals. -This position reports to the Manager, Document Management.

This position is full-time, Monday - Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm CST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Comply with records management programs, including retention schedule requirements
  • Comply with policies and procedures for document management including standardized naming conventions.
  • Complete all training regarding document management procedures and workflow.
  • Ensure all documents are managed and routed supporting HEDIS - data collection efforts.
  • Escalate any concerns related to document management to leadership.
  • Support engagements with vendors or teams conducting document scanning services for medical charts.
  • Support invoice processing to pay for medical charts received.
  • Support year-round collection engagement and indexing
  • Participate in all User Acceptance Testing (UAT) pertaining to HEDIS - Software, Onbase - and RateLift.
  • Solves moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses
  • Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks
  • Translates concepts into practice

    Required Qualifications:

    • Associates Degree (or higher) OR 5+ years' experience in Health Information Management Department
    • Ability to assist with focusing activities towards a strategic direction and achieve targets
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word (create, copy, edit, send, and save documents), Microsoft Excel (create, copy, edit, send and save spreadsheets), and Microsoft PowerPoint (create, copy, edit, send and save presentations)

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Prior Health Information Management experience
      • 2+ years' experience in medical record scanning and indexing
      • Basic knowledge of document imaging software, such as Hyland OnBase -.

        Telecommuting Requirements:

        • Reside within the Central Time Zone
        • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
        • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
        • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
