For additional questions please contact us at: Role SummaryResponsible for the review and abstraction of information from the medical records for the Indianapolis Healthy Babies Fetal Infant Mortality Review Program (IHB-FIMR). Assists in interviews of mothers who have lost infants in Marion County to listen to their experiences in order to improve service systems and community resources. Qualifications* Bachelor's degree in nursing * A minimum of 4 years professional experience in obstetrics and or pediatric preferred.* Knowledge of the FIMR process, data and statistics related to fetal and infant mortality.* Works in cooperation with internal staff as well as representatives from external organizations. * Good organizational and time management skills.* Maintain confidentiality of information according to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996. * Current knowledge of issues in Maternal Child Health* Access to automobile.Licenses/Certifications Required* Current Nursing License for the State of Indiana.* Valid driver's license Knowledge, Skills & Abilities* Strong oral and written communication skills with sensitivity to needs and experiences of grieving families. * Ability to work independently as well as in a team.* Knowledge of pregnancy and perinatal issues. * Ability to review and write summary of client medical records.* Ability to use a variety of computer programs such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.* Experience in home visiting, community outreach, case finding, or conducting interviews. * Knowledge of hospital and community resources for Marion County families and referral process for clients in need of services. * Skill in leading group discussions.Working EnviornmentCONTACTS-INTERNAL/EXTERNAL: * Internal contacts: MCH Director, FIMR Coordinator and other MCH staff, Epidemiology Staff, Social Service staff, Vital Records staff and Community Based Care Staff .* External contacts: Mothers who have experienced fetal and infant loss, Community Action team members, Case Review Team members, Health Information Management Staff in Marion County hospitals, ISDH staff, FIMR State Coordinator, other State of Indiana FIMR program staff and other referral resources.
