Job Title: American Board of Radiology Certified Diagnostic Medical Physicists

Based at: Indianapolis, IN

Job Summary: Sanford Federal is looking for a successful American Board of Radiology Certified Diagnostic Medical Physicists in Indianapolis, IN. We are looking for a candidate who can provide Performance Testing Services to be completed by a qualified Diagnostic Medical Physicist (DMP) with American Board of Radiology (ABR). Our ideal candidate succeeds at providing relevant work experience, also, demonstrates an adequate education and background in this field, and fully capable of accomplishing his duties in such an effective and efficient manner.

  • Requirements: The Candidate must meet the following requirements.
    • Education:
      • ABR certified DMP for Medical Physics and Nuclear Medical Physics for both the X-Ray and Nuc Med equipment
      • ACR Certified
        • Experience:
          • Minimum 3years of experience working in a relevant position.
          • Duties: the candidate will be responsible for:
          • Perform American College of Radiology Performance Testing on the imaging x-ray equipment, nuclear medicine cameras, PET/CT cameras, ultrasound units, and MRIs. A written report of the results shall be provided.
          • Performance testing of all new or relocated imaging equipment prior to first clinical use. The performance testing shall comply with ACR or MQSA requirements. A written report of the results shall be provided within 30 working days after completion of the inspection.
          • perform a full inspection of imaging equipment after repairs or modifications that may affect the radiation output or image quality. The inspection shall be completed within 2 working days after the facility contacts the physicist. A written report of the results shall be provided.
          • Provide consultation for additional services for safety training and shielding integrity surveys.
          • Review CT and fluoroscopy protocols and include dose reduction techniques where applicable at least annually.
          • Provide shielding design calculations, upon request for each new, replaced, or relocated x-ray imaging system. A written report of the results shall be provided.
          • Assist on-site QM Technologist in the development of a comprehensive technical quality assurance program (e.g., technique charts, monitoring of exposure indices to radiographic image receptors, QA program for display monitors), which complies with ACR recommendations, for all modalities.
          • Assist with the Indianapolis VAMC Radiation Safety program and ensure that required Federal records are properly documented and maintained.
          • Assist in monitoring patient radiation doses during procedures.
          • Assist in estimating fetal radiation dose calculations.
          • Assist during scheduled procedures when requested and provide instruction to hospital personnel as required by hospital accreditation agencies.
          • Assist with preparing over-exposure reports for personnel radiation exposures.
          • Assist with a review of incidents involving diagnostic x-ray equipment cause and actions taken.
          • Attend biennial Machine Produced Radiation Safety Committee Meetings unless excused by the facility Radiation Safety Officer.
          • Inspect/evaluate additional imaging equipment as necessary due to equipment acquisition and or repair/replacement of existing equipment up to 100 times per year.
          • Design and calculation of radiation protection shielding up to 10 times per year.
          • Inspection of radiation protection shielding up to 10 times per year.
          • Computed Tomography (CT) protocol optimization annually/scanner.
          • Fluoroscopy protocol optimization annually/scanner.
