Description:
The Health Care Medical Billing and Denials Specialist is a member of the team responsible for coordinating and processing patient and insurance billing.
Below are additional key functions and skills for this opportunity:
Submitting claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance companies to secure payment
Works on insurance portals to key and correct claims
Research and investigate billing policies to resolve all claim denials
Regular follow up with insurance companies for claim status
Works to achieve daily and monthly performance metrics

MUST HAVE:
-1+ year of medical billing appeals and denials experience (no cert required) (have they accessed portals, have they put in appeals, adjudication, grievance appeals, rejections, processed denials?) MUST HAVE THIS TERMINOLOGY ON THEIR RESUME

  Has experience with provider portals and ability to look-up approvals/denials, etc.

  MUST have experience from medical facility NOT insurance company (dr. office, hospital, outpatient center, etc.)
  
  
  This position is seen as a step-up from the Medical Biller role and requires more attention to detail and follow-through
  ***applicants that only have experience from the payer side find this position too difficult. We need applicants that have been working for providers. ***
  NICE TO HAVE:
  Have knowledge of modifiers (DME- durable medical equipment)

      Do not want people who have worked ONLY for insurance company. Want them sending bills out so need to come from physician office or provider rather than insurance company.

      Someone who has only worked in a healthcare setting from a call center will not do well in this role. They need to have experience with billing and claims from a dr. office/hospital/medical facility..
