- Financial assistance program supporting teammates in times of
need As a Hospice Aide/ Certified Nursing Assistant, you will:
- Report directly to the Administrator, Executive Director or
Patient Care Manager Senior and function under the direction,
instruction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical
Supervisor.
- Help the patient to maintain good personal hygiene.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
- Prepare and serve light meals.
- Assist in feeding patient when needed.
- Assist the patient in ambulation.
- Assist with the safe use of a walker or wheelchair as taught
and supervised by the nurse.
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as emptying trash and
changing linens.
- Assist with certain treatments as ordered on the aide plan of
care and as allowable in state-specific regulations.
- Attempt to promote patients mental alertness through
involvement in activities of interest.
- Give basic emotional and psychological support to the patient
and other members of the household.
- Report any change in the patients mental or physical condition
or home situation to the Registered Nurse and members of the
interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate basic care to the primary caregiver.
- Practice infection control measures and standard
precautions.
- Provide accurate documentation with visit itineraries
- Attend staff meetings.
- Participate in at least one Quality Improvement activity
yearly, as assigned by supervisor.
- Complete documentation in a timely manner as outlined in
orientation. About You:
Hospice Aide/ CNA Requirements:
- Hospice heart: compassionate, kind and empathetic to your
patients and their families.
- Comfortable providing care wherever the patient calls
home.
- Demonstrate flexibility and composure while supporting others
in a time of crisis.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
- Six (6) months of patient care experience in hospice, home
health, ICU, geriatric, or oncology strongly preferred.
- Additional, preferred experience to help you be successful in a
hospice role: hospital Staff RN, Med Surg, PACU, Float pool, ER or
emergency room, critical care, acute care, cardiac, geriatric,
admissions, wound care, telemetry, nursing home or travel.
- Current drivers license and automobile insurance.
- Current CPR certification Gentiva is a family of
