is seeking an Advanced Lung Disease Fellow to join our Advanced
Lung Disease Team at IU Health Methodist Hospital. Be a part of our

- One-year fellowship
- Offers comprehensive training in the fields of Lung Transplant,
Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Pulmonary Hypertension,
and Interstitial Lung Disease
- The curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive
understanding of the care continuum for transplant patients
encompassing both pre- and post surgical phases in both inpatient
and outpatient settings.
- Actively participate in candidate selection, donor evaluation,
peri-operative management (inclusive of lung and heart
transplants), and the use of mechanical support for bridging to
transplant. Following completion of our program, fellows will be
eligible to become the primary lung transplant physician at an
accredited adult lung transplant program
- Acquire proficiency in peri-operative management of Chronis
Thromboembolic pulmonary Hypertension patients following Pulmonary
Thromboendarterectomy as well as management of various mechanical
support devices, including ECMO variants (VA,VV,VA-A,Oxy- RVAD),
Left Ventricular Assist Devises (LVAD) and Impella
- Opportunities for advanced echocardiogram training, involvement
in organ procurement, engagement with the HLA laboratory for
educational purposes, exposure to advanced medical procedures, and
opportunities in research initiatives The IU Health Lung Transplant
program, the sole lung transplant program in the state of Indiana,
is experiencing rapid growth with an anticipated volume of 60-65
transplants for the current year. Additionally, the Pulmonary
Hypertension Program holds accreditation from the PHA. The ECMO
program is certified by ELSO as a center of excellence and is in
the top 12% globally in 2023 for volume, having successfully
completed 1000 ECMO runs since inception in 2011. The interstitial
lung disease program is recognized by the Pulmonary Fibrosis
Foundation. Qualifications
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
program
- Completion of ACGME- accredited pulmonary critical care
fellowship before commencing the Advanced Lung Disease
