Department InformationOne of the first human genetics departments
in the country, the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at
IU School of Medicine has a rich history of training geneticists
and genetic counselors and providing genetic consultation and
counseling services. The department contributes to the
understanding of numerous genetic conditions through the
integration of basic research in genetic and genomic mechanisms,
translational research in disease models, and clinical trials in
rare and common genetic diseases.This position is in the Center for
Medical Genomics at the Indiana University School of Medicine. The
Center for Medical Genomics at Indiana University School of
Medicine is a state-of-the-art technology center that provides
medical scientists with affordable access to high-quality
high-throughput genomics services. The center is equipped with a
variety of advanced genomics technologies, including
next-generation sequencing, single-cell analytics and spatial
transcriptomics. Job Summary
- Leads research activities and protocol development that
requires expertise in the application and adaptation of various
research techniques and procedures.
- Maintains equipment, including preventive maintenance,
scheduling repairs as needed, service agreement negotiations,
trouble shooting equipment malfunctions, and maintaining an active
list of vendors to respond to equipment loss.
- Supervises, mentors, and provides training for junior-level
staff.
- Prepares summary data reports, and creates and maintains
databases for storage and analysis.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable local and federal
regulations.
- Collaborates with leadership to develop and maintain the
budget.
- Establishes core operating goals, objectives, policies and
procedures
- May develop, prepare, and coordinate grant applications and
grant-related activities to obtain funding for research projects
and related work.QualificationsCombinations of related education

education.EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCERequired
- Master's degree in science plus 4 years of research experience;
OR
- Bachelor's degree in science plus 6 years of research
experiencePreferred
- Hands-on experience in DNA/RNA analyses, including qPCR,
RT-PCR, RNA/DNA extraction
- Experience with cell cultureSKILLSRequired
- Proficient communication skills
- Maintains a high degree of professionalism

Conditions / DemandsThe role regularly requires the ability to
effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability
to move about the work environment and to position oneself to
operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the
ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will
occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. This is a hands-on
lab position requiring work with DNA/RNA samples. The person in
this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or

IndianaAdvertised Salary$59,604.80 - $64,604.80 per year based on
