today.IU Methodist Hospital's Solid Organ Transplant/Oncology Unit
is a 23 private bed, highly specialized medical/surgical unit. The
nurses on this unit primarily care for pre & post op heart and lung
transplant patients. This unit also treats patients with various
types of cancer, and cares for plastic surgery patients who have
undergone muscle flap reconstruction, as well as breast
reconstruction.Nurses on 7N have the opportunity to become
Biotherapy Certified! As an added bonus, this unit features a
relaxing view from the 7th floor with external windows and features
a solarium!Nursing skills gained on this unit:Time
managementCritical thinkingPatient and family educationFoundational
nursing skillsDIEP flaps with hourly doppler and vascular checksEnd
of life/hospice carQualifications:Requires an Associates of Nursing
(ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.Requires an active
Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active
Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.Requires that the RN has
graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.Requires
Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.Other advanced
Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department
