Trauma, General Surgery and GI, Peds Medical Surgical Unit at Riley
Hospital for Children. This is a place where you can make a

nursing practice with the support of your colleagues.9E is a 24-bed
surgery/trauma unit in the Simon Family Tower. We focus on the care
of surgical patients including general surgery, trauma, and GI. We
also see GI overflow such as liver failure, GI bleeds, short gut,
pectus repair, new ostomies, gastroschisis, and traumas.*This
position is referral eligible!Nursing skills gained on this
unit:Med-surg assessment skills for infant to 18 years+ patientsWe
offer nurses a firm foundation of nursing skills and knowledge in a
supportive environmentCare of tubes and drains such as chest tubes,
IR drain, JP drains, NG/NJ tubes, G-tubes, foley cathetersCentral
line, PICC line, and Port careUnit Successes/Designations:Many
Daisy NominationsMultiple red shoe awards and nominationsUnit
Culture Highlights:Unit run professional practice council where 9E
team members make decisions on unit practicesSpirit committee run
by 9E team members to have get togethers outside of
workQualifications:Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor
of Nursing (BSN) preferred.Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN)
license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure
Compact (NLC) RN license.Requires that the RN has graduated from a
nationally accredited nursing program.Requires Basic Life Support
certification through the AHA.Other Advanced Life Support
certifications may be required per unit/department specialty
