Our practice sees some exotics including: pocket pets, reptiles and birds - some exotics experience is preferred. /n For more information, please visit our website at: www.kokomoanimalhospital.com Job Summary/n The Managing Doctor is responsible for providing medical leadership for the hospital, managing associate veterinarians, technical staff and support staff and assuring regulatory compliance relating to the practice of veterinary medicine. The Managing Doctor is also responsible for creating an environment of teamwork in which quality medicine and exceptional client service are delivered in conjunction with the hospital manager. /n In partnership with the Hospital Manager, the Managing Doctor is responsible for the financial performance and general operations of the hospital under the guidance of Divisional Leadership. In addition, the Hospital Manager and Managing Doctor are responsible for cultivating a supportive and collaborative team environment./n Duties and Responsibilities/n Advancing Medical Care/n - Oversees surgical and medical cases for all doctors, ensuring positive outcomes, accurate estimates, and client communication and education./n - Answers client questions and concerns regarding medical and surgical procedures./n - Provides oversight and direction of medical standards, quality of care and inventory./n - Establishes medical protocols. - Oversees transfer of medical cases from doctor to doctor. - Minimizes waste and controls costs relating to medical supplies, surgical instruments, and drug inventories./n Leading Staff and Practice/n - Participates in the quarterly inventory count./n - Participates in the recruiting and interviewing process for Doctors, technicians and support staff./n - Monitors doctor performance and production./n - Develops and monitors hospital-specific client compliance protocols and procedures./n - Participates in technician appraisal and medical counseling sessions./n - Ensures all medical staff receive applicable training, including the mentoring of new graduates./n - Supports the Hospital Manager with staff training programs and tracking CE and DVM licensure./n Financial Responsibilities/n - Drives revenue and hospital contribution growth, which includes managing all hospital expenses./n - Assists in the preparation of an annual planning strategy, operating budget and capital budget./n - Monitors key financial reports./n Growing the Practice/n - Drives patient visits and encourages community involvement./n - Embraces change and supports innovative programs within the hospital./n - Monitors client service, marketing, and NVA growth initiatives./n About Our Hospital/n - In-house IDEXX lab-Catalyst Dx, LaserCyte, Snapshot Dx, Sedivue/n - Daily IDEXX referral lab pick up/n - Digital (direct) radiography and Progeny digital dental radiography/n - Ultrasound (non-Doppler)/n - Fiberscope/n - Full Surgery suite with 2 general anesthesia /monitoring stations/n - Dental suite with general anesthesia, complete monitoring and Midmark dental equipment/n - Six general exam rooms and separate treatment room/n - Full service in-house pharmacy plus online pharmacy/n About Kokomo, Indiana/n - Kokomo is the county seat of Howard County, in north central Indiana, just 50 miles north of Indianapolis, the Crossroads of America.
