PCU RN Job Details - Location: Indianapolis, IN 46202 (Indiana nursing jobs) - Healthcare Setting: Surgical Progressive Care Unit (SPCU) - Employment Type: Travel nursing contract - Start Date: December 8, 2025 - End Date: March 9, 2026 - Contract Duration: 13 weeks - Shift: 3x12-hour shifts per week (07:00 - 19:30) - Hours per Week: 36 - Estimated Weekly Pay: $1660-$1700 - Patient Ratio: 1:3-4 - Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required - First Time Travel Nurses: Accepted - Local Candidates: Not accepted for PCU positions Registered Nurse Qualifications - Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience - Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Indiana or compact state) - Required certifications: ACLS and BCLS - Clinical skills in cardiac monitoring, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, feeding tube care, post-op patient care, epidurals, non-titratable cardiac drips, IV insulin protocols, BiPAP/CPAP, total laryngectomy, and Doppler flap checks - Ability to float between Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU units within university and affiliate hospitals - Two supervisor references required - Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ACEN or CCNE) - Trauma Level I experience preferred - Previous charge nurse experience preferred PCU Nurse Responsibilities - Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult patients with complex surgical and medical diagnoses (ENT, thoracic, general surgery, urology, medical overflow) - Monitor and manage cardiac rhythms, drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, feeding tubes, and surgical drains - Provide post-operative care and support for patients recovering from major surgeries - Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams - Float to other hospital units as needed to meet patient care demands - Participate in unit charge nurse duties as needed (training provided) - Maintain accurate documentation and comply with hospital protocols - Work every other weekend and fulfill holiday coverage requirements Take the next step in your nursing career with this Indianapolis travel nursing job.
