Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for
a Surgical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) assignment, requiring an IN
or compact RN license and strong cardiac monitoring skills.
Responsibilities - Work in a Surgical Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
with almost ICU-level acuity - Care for post-operative ENT,
thoracic, general surgery, and urology patients, as well as medical
overflow - Typical patient ratios are 1:3-4 - Night shift schedule
with 12-hour shifts, 3 nights per week (19:00-07:30) - Every other
weekend shifts required, with potential for consecutive weekends
depending on operational needs - Travelers may be required to float
to different care levels, including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU at
affiliate hospitals - No specific EMR experience required, but
Cerner charting is used - Charge nurse coverage may be required,
with training and resources provided - Orientation modules must be
completed pre-start through the online learning system - First-time
travelers are accepted for this position - All travelers must float
as needed; refusal to float may result in termination - Not
accepting local candidates for PCU positions - Any former perm or
PRN employees must be away for 12 months prior to consideration as
travelers - Up to 5 days of non-holiday requested time off will be
auto-approved; additional RTO requires approval - Candidates must
work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays Requirements - Active IN or
compact RN license in hand prior to start - Current certifications
in ACLS and BLS (AHA or RQI accepted) - Graduation from an ACEN or
CCNE accredited nursing program - Minimum of 18 months to 2 years
of recent PCU or similar acute care experience - Proficient in
cardiac monitoring, management of chest tubes, fresh trachs, and
feeding tubes - Skills in IV insulin protocols, external
BiPAP/CPAP, epidurals, non-titratable cardiac drips, total
laryngectomy, and Doppler flap checks - Two supervisor references
required - SSN and DOB required for consideration Benefits - High
