Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 11/17/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring flexibility with weekend shifts and a current IN or compact RN license. Responsibilities - Work in a hospital-based Med/Surg unit within a Level 1 Trauma teaching facility - Night shift schedule: three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30 - Care for patients with trauma such as GSW, blunt trauma, stab wounds, MVC, falls, orthopedic injuries, ostomies, hernia repairs, skin flaps, significant wounds, and surgical drains - Expected staffing ratios are 1:5-6 - Floating required to other hospital units or affiliate hospitals, including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU - Cerner EMR system in use - Travel nurses may be assigned precepting duties or have students shadow them - Charge nurse responsibilities may be required depending on unit needs, with training provided - First-time travelers are welcome to apply - Call-ins may require making up missed shifts during the contract - Modules must be completed pre-start via online learning - Returning permanent or PRN IU employees must have been away for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler - Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO are auto-approved; additional requests require approval Requirements - Active IN or compact RN license required and must be in hand before start - Minimum of 18 months to 2 years recent Med/Surg experience required - Level 1 Trauma experience preferred - Current BCLS certification; AHA or RQI accepted - Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing program - Ability to work 50% of weekends during the contract - Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays - No local candidates accepted (IN residents considered local and not eligible) - Cerner charting experience required or willingness to learn Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-628399.
