ADEX Healthcare Staffing LLC is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Indianapolis, Indiana. Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 03/23/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Job Details: • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required • Patient ratio of 1:3-4 patients • Work every other weekend per contract (6 weekends per 13-week contract) • 48 hours of orientation provided • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays • Required certifications: ACLS and BLS • Must be proficient in cardiac monitoring and on-unit telemetry monitoring • Experience required with chest tube management, fresh tracheostomies, feeding tube care, post-operative patient care, epidurals, and non-titratable cardiac drips • Must be competent with IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration • Experience with external BiPAP/CPAP, total laryngectomy care, and Doppler flap checks required • Floating to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) is mandatory - refusal may result in contract termination • May be required to provide charge nurse coverage with training and resources provided • Must agree to possibility of precepting students or having students shadow during assignment • First-time travelers accepted, travel experience not required • Charting system experience with Cerner preferred • Previous charge experience preferred • Trauma Level I experience preferred Facility: This major academic medical center serves as a teaching facility providing comprehensive healthcare services. The Surgical PCU unit operates at near-ICU level acuity, specializing in ENT procedures including neck dissections and mandibulectomies, thoracic surgeries such as esophagectomies and lobectomies, general surgical procedures including pancreatic and liver resections, and urological procedures like urinary diversions and cystectomies. The 34-bed unit maintains a daily census of 24 patients and offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
