What is Assistive Technology? Assistive technology (AT) is any
item, piece of equipment, product, or software program that is used
to increase or improve the functional capabilities of a person with
a disability. AT can be very low-tech like a cardboard
communication board, or high-tech such as special-purpose computers
or robotics. It can be hardware such as keyboards or switches, or
software programs like screen readers. AT can be power lifts,
braces, tools, and much more. AT is as varied as the people and
situations that need it.
This position provides AT installation, training, troubleshooting
and other related services for individuals with disabilities
throughout the State of Indiana.
Required education, experience, and certifications
To qualify for this position, you must have:
A minimum of 2 years' experience in Assistive Technology
Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification
Other AT, IT and disability related certifications or experience a
plus.
Essential Functions
Install, train, and troubleshoot computer systems
Install, train, and troubleshoot assistive technology hardware and
software
Travel independently throughout the State of Indiana
Document services provided and log service hours into agency EMR
system daily
Conduct case management services, schedule appointments, enter
service logs, coordinate with various stakeholders (ex. consumer,
employer, funding source, vendor, etc.)
Participate in team activities including department and team
meetings, slack channel updates and discussions, brainstorming and
troubleshooting sessions, etc.
Other duties as assigned by the manager of Clinical Assistive
Technology.
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability
In this role you must be able to communicate effectively with
diverse audiences and using a variety of mediums including
electronic and printed communication such as text messaging, email,
service reports, and EMR entries
You will install, integrate, troubleshoot, and provide training
related to assistive technology hardware and software
You will travel independently, organize and schedule caseload,
document services provided and log work into electronic medical
records system
You must be able to move objects and install equipment weighing up
to 50 pounds.
Work schedule
The work schedule varies, but typical hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Monday through Friday
This is a full-time, exempt position.
