Job Details
The Principle Analyst will drive program management of the
Enterprise SAM function as well as future ancillary services that
keep the lights on for Software Asset Management. Our Business
Technology (Salesforce IT) organization benefits directly from the
services provided in this small but dynamic team, as do the
internal customers across Salesforce. The right candidate will look
beyond the day-to-day tasks by thinking strategically and help
drive visibility, communication, consistency and efficiency across
the SAM team and program thereby improving the employee experience

Responsibilities:
Manages and monitors the renewal lifecycle for all renewals in the
SAM portfolio
Performs resource planning to ensure appropriate resources are
allocated to complete renewals.
Partners with stakeholders, Product Owner and Business Partner
Group for renewal needs. -
Works with BT leadership and finance for software budget
forecasting and identifies cost savings and cost avoidance renewal
needs
Providing accurate and timely forecasts of renewal revenue and
reporting on renewal performance metrics. -
Makes recommendations or provides guidance for renewals based on
current company strategy, economic conditions and data analysis
performed.
Proactively engaging with Stakeholders & Business Leaders to
understand the business objectives and align software solutions
accordingly.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including sales,
marketing, finance, security, sourcing, procurement, etc., to
ensure smooth renewal processes.
Ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions, including
license usage, payment terms, and renewal timelines.
Lead bi-weekly and monthly Governance Council meetings with
executive leadership
Guide and make recommendations for software rationalization and
consolidation efforts
Assists with continuous improvement initiatives to improve team
scalability and efficiency
Maintain a clear understanding of SAM best practices and internal
policies on compliance for software assets
Engage vendors as needed in partnership with Sourcing to provide a
clear vendor management strategy from IT.
Recommend license management and renewal strategies to the
operations side of SAM (Software License Management, or SLM).
Preform routine reviews for quarterly or annual true-ups
Identify contract changes and update Software Asset, Software
Catalog, SOP's and Snow Entitlements
Analyzing renewal trends to ensure they meet threshold to
centralize/realize cost saving
Identifying and implementing automation tools and systems to
optimize renewal management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Familiarity with software lifecycles in an IT environment,
including software distribution, customer service, access controls,
identity management, and change management
Demonstrated experience with Software Asset Management Lifecycles,
including onboarding, software contract renewal events, internal
and 3rd Party Audit Response, title and category normalization, and
Software deprecation
Have had Experience in a SAM renewal space and have hands on
experience of managing at least few multi million dollar renewals

Experience in managing and leading Software Rationalization efforts
in the current role
Procurement, buying or contracts experience
Experience interpreting licensing terms and conditions; experience
negotiating terms and conditions with vendors
Ability to build summary reports and visualizations of data
sets
Innovative thinker who is positive, proactive and readily embraces
change
Experience communicating with or making recommendations to
leadership
Experience using or maintaining cloud-based tools or accounts
(software-as-a-service).
Experience with Asset Management tools (Snow Software, Zylo,
Flexera, Aspera, Landesk, Ivanti, ServiceNow, BMC) a plus
Experience in conducting audits, creating risk assessments and
implementing remediation
Excellent analytical and communication skills (both verbal and
written). Able to be a positive evangelist of policies and best
practices, even in the face of opposition and with stakeholders up
to C-level.
Additional Qualifications:
Experience using G-Suite apps (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides,
Keep).
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills - using formulas and macros,
building reports, and compiling CSV data sets for upload to
databases.
Educational / Work Experience Requirement
A Bachelor's degree in IT, IT management, business, or
communications, or equivalent experience time in a related role
required
CSAM, CITAM, or equivalent regional certification a plus
Salesforce employees must have at least 1 year in their current
role, not be on an active performance improvement plan, and have
direct manager approval before accepting this new role
