This role targets a software engineer who enjoys working with cross-functional teams, innovating, and developing robust infrastructure and code to accelerate scientific workflows. Reporting to the Associate Director of Software Product Engineering, Research Technologies, this position collaborates across Tech@Lilly to deliver solutions supporting various software and business processes.What You'll Be Doing:

• Develop and maintain software platforms and products as an experienced, senior software engineer within a team of full-stack developers.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing across the team, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Troubleshoot complex distributed systems, proposing preventive solutions.
• Establish and follow processes and patterns to streamline system operations.
• Plan platform work proactively, organize, and communicate roadmap objectives.
• Conduct code reviews and participate in pair programming.
• Develop secure, high-quality code and tests.
• Work within a modern Agile environment to deliver value regularly.What You Should Bring:

• Strong understanding of AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with Kafka and Temporal.IO.
• Knowledge of applying AI/ML techniques and emerging technologies.
• Experience collaborating across organizational and geographic boundaries.
• Strong teamwork, self-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead technical development teams effectively.
• Familiarity with chemistry or biology lab processes.
• Experience translating customer needs into technical requirements.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency in multiple common tech languages.Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of development experience in Java, Kotlin, Python, or similar languages, including web and database technologies.
  • Experience architecting and maintaining Kubernetes and AWS-based platforms.
  • Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
