We're looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.Position Description:This Compensation and Benefits Accounting Manager is a highly visible and collaborative role within the Corporate Financial Reporting team, interacting with senior leadership and ultimately serving as the company's subject matter expert responsible for the accounting and forecasting of Lilly's compensation and benefits (C&B) programs. This role is an important contributor relied upon by CFO Staff to provide expert accounting and forecasting guidance when implementing or modifying new and existing compensation programs. Key responsibilities include preparation of quarterly and annual disclosures for external financial reporting, internal financial planning and forecasting, and assisting with preparation of materials for quarterly presentations to the Board of Directors' Compensation Committee.Key Objectives / Deliverables:Act as subject matter expert for Human Resources and CFO Staff related to accounting for C&B programs including: Participate in benefit design teams as the financial/accounting subject matter expert. Provide support for financial information shared with the Compensation Committee. Work with senior leadership on special projects and requests on an as needed basis.Complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting for compensation and benefit programs (bonus program, pension and post-retirement plans, stock-based compensation plans, etc.) in accordance with US GAAP and Lilly Global Financial and Accounting Policies, including providing support and oversight to accounting analysts in preparing journal vouchers and performing account analysis.Prepare quarterly and annual disclosures for external financial reporting related to compensation and benefits (pension and post-retirement plans, stock-based compensation programs, and other comprehensive income).Prepare internal forecast for global C&B programs, manage budget-to-actual variances and communicate results to senior leadership.Coordinate accounting for restructuring programs in consultation with the Chief Accounting Officer as applicable.Perform technical accounting research related to changes in accounting standards and changes in C&B program designs.Analyze the C&B impacts of business development acquisition and divestiture transactions.Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls testing and documentation for C&B processes.Other special project work as identified by senior leadership.Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related fieldCPA, Chartered Accountant, CPA Eligible or equivalent7+ years of work experienceAdditional Preferences:CPA licenseStrong project management and organizational skillsStrong leadership and teamworkAbility to work independentlyStrong interpersonal, written and oral communication skillsAbility to multi-task and prioritize responsibilitiesAttention to detailStrong critical thinking, problem solving skills, and ability to be innovative and creativeStrong business partnering skills with a willingness to push back and challenge when necessaryPassion for continuous improvementHigh learning agilityOther Information:Travel is estimated to be less than 5%.Position will be located in Indianapolis and may require some flexibility due to business partners being located in different time zones.
