The Impact You'll Make in this Role

The person hired for the position of Senior Inpatient Consultant will have a passion for imparting their knowledge and expertise in clinical documentation improvement to both their customers and their internal team members as well as providing innovative solutions to solve customers' business opportunities. The person hired will be involved in:

  • Clinical content development

  • Validation and application of software modules relating to coding and training

  • Collaborating with the coding and clinical team members and external clients.

  • Assist in presenting clinical and coding concepts to various hospitals and/or organizations

As a Senior Inpatient Consultant, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Implementing and supporting Clinical Documentation Integrity programs in multiple facilities

  • Leading audit tasks of medical record coding, documentation, compliance and DRG assignment

  • Participating in relevant corporate programs/initiatives

  • Ensuring professional, quality and security standards are complied with while performing assigned duties

  • Complying with corporate policies and procedures while acting in a manner consistent with 3M's values and ethical standards

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited university OR High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution and a minimum of twelve (12) years of clinical or coding experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree education requirement

  • RHIA, RHIT with CCS certification with five (5) years of clinical coding experience OR a Valid RN License with minimum of five (5) years acute care experience

  • Five (5) years of CDI experience

  • Ability to travel up to 75%

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master's degree in HIM, Nursing, or other healthcare clinical background

  • Recognized CDI credential from ACDIS (CCDS) or AHIMA (CDIP).

  • Experience with telecommuting, working with EMRs and other electronic tools

  • Knowledgeable in 3M HIS software portfolio (360 Encompass)

  • Proficient Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office programs

  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, analytical and organizational skills

Travel: Requires up to 75% Travel

Relocation Assistance: Not Approved

Location: Remote

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
