Job Description:

Position Summary Supervise offenders within the Adult Services, Pre-Trial Services, RSR or Community Adjustment divisions to assist in achieving compliance with legal conditions of probation. A Probation Officer may serve in a variety of capacities within the department as determined by the Chief Probation Officer while espousing the department's Vision Statement, Mission Statement, Guiding Principles, and Evidence Based Practices. The current positions are in the the RSR division at the Juvenile Court complex and are NIGHT positions with hours from 7:00pm to 7:00am. Position Responsibilities Serves at all times as an Officer of the Court and will be assigned a unit based on the needs of the department which include pretrial, presentence investigation, casework, electronic monitoring or a combination of all. Utilize and administer the Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS). Maintains appropriate communication and collaboration with the court, clients, legal representatives, family, victims, treatment providers, electronic monitoring agency and other concerned persons as necessary. Reviews documents pertaining to legal and social history of offender. Conducts interviews with offenders to inform them of legal requirements of probation. Completes court paperwork and correspondence as required. Testifies in court and makes appropriate recommendations as required. Monitors client compliance with conditions of pretrial or probation. Conducts field visits in compliance with the Indiana Office of Court Services contact standard requirements. Conducts presentence investigations and authors appropriate PSI reports and recommendations. Monitors and evaluates electronic monitoring compliance and non-compliance. Investigates potential violations of release and reports violations to the Court if necessary. Inputs and maintains accurate data and notes in the Supervised Release System (SRS). Adheres to all Policies & Procedures of the Marion Superior Court. Serves in other capacities and assignments as requested, required and/or directed by the Chief Probation Officer, while always adhering to the department's overall "team" philosophy and practice. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
