About the Indiana Department of Administration (IDOA): IDOA centrally manages activities relating to state purchasing, the vehicle fleet, state travel, real estate leases, property disposition, and the Government Center Campus, among others. In addition to agency support, the department provides assistance to minority, women, and veteran business enterprises interested in state contracting opportunities. Through its activities, IDOA helps to ensure the smooth function of state government, finding efficient and effective solutions to government-wide needs. Salary: The starting salary for this position is $34,398 per year. About the Job: The Building Custodian is an entry level position and is responsible for cleaning in appointed areas, for the general upkeep of the government building or buildings assigned. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: * Supervises the use of custodial equipment and supplies; * Arrange work production to meet daily work flow and long/short term goals; * Provide proper supervision, guidance, training and support to all employees under their supervision; * Inspects completion of all tasks to ensure quality and completion; report needed maintenance repairs; * Keep material and inventory records; * Dusting of office, common and public areas; * Vacuuming of office, common and public areas with carpeted flooring; * Cleaning of carpeted areas with carpet extraction equipment and/or spot cleaning; * Cleaning and maintaining hard surface floors, e.g. dust mopping, mopping, stripping, waxing and burnishing; * Cleaning, restocking of consumables and sanitizing restrooms; * Removing trash and recyclable materials from office, common and public areas; * Report maintenance concerns to supervisor; The job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. What You'll Need for Success: * Working knowledge of operation of custodial equipment; * Considerable knowledge MSDS requirements and mixing of cleaning chemicals; * Ability to maintain good working relations with employees, department heads and others; * Ability to keep records and to prepare progress reports. Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
