Through positive partnerships, MD IDS provides modern technology solutions for complex business problems by defining and influencing information and business strategies, crafting and developing solutions to achieve strategic outcomes, and ensuring reliable deployment and operation of these solutions. These solutions included platform capabilities to consolidate functional work and create efficiencies for teams working on clinical research, advanced automation to improve the effectiveness of teams, and apply the Agile Methodology and DevSecOps principles to problems so that value for Lilly, researchers, and patients is delivered at a faster pace.The Clinical Operations/Site Capabilities Solutions Architect works with Business Area Leadership and IDS Architecture on cross-organizational issues. The person in this role is expected to develop a network that spans Lilly organizations to formulate direction for strategies, plans, and architectures in the Clinical Operations/Site Capabilities area of responsibility. The architect must be well-versed in the future direction of Lilly's business, vendor strategies, and technology opportunities. The person in the Architect role understands the current state and future direction for the area and influences leadership (business, technical, and administrative) to deliver solutions that are aligned with MD IDS and business goals. The person in this role is aware of internal and external standards that are relevant to his or her area of responsibility, assuring that projects make appropriate use of them in their designs and implementations. Agile and DevOps are the preferred approaches for teams working on the Clinical Operations/Site Capabilities portfolio. Examples of target areas for architectural leadership are the Shared Investigator Platform, Central Analytic Monitoring, Investigator Initiated Research portal, and related platform systems in the clinical development space that rely on these solutions.This position will report to the Associate Director-IDS, Clinical Operations/Digital Solutions, MD IDS.Key Objectives & Deliverables:

  • Create technical vision for specific solutions to business problems.
  • Develop, steward, and manage current and future-state architecture strategy (analysis, planning, and automation).
  • Lead Business Process Management activities to identify business processes that are candidates for optimization or automation opportunities.
  • Identify technology trends, cross-functional capabilities, and new services.
  • Communicate and build trust with IDS and business stakeholders.
  • Identify the tools that will be used and the purpose that they will be used for during implementation of automation solutions.
  • Create technology roadmaps and guidance and gain business alignment.
  • Develop and gain alignment on the maintenance strategy for solutions.
  • Ensure exceptions to architectural standards, milestones, and strategic partnerships go through the appropriate exception process.
  • Conduct architectural design reviews, including alignment with future state architecture, evaluation of technology alternatives, and cost impact analyses.
  • Lead impact analyses for major technical changes.
  • Ensure test strategy design is appropriate to test all aspects of an automation implementation end-to-end.
  • Send program communications to stakeholders, track total work remaining, and create forecasts. -Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information or related field: Or at least 5 years of equivalent work experience as a Software Engineer/Project Engineer type of experience.
    • 2+ years' experience in software development projects or COTS as architect, development lead, or technical lead with a focus on architecture, automation, or data management/integrations.
    • Hands on experience using cloud-based development and data integration services (e.g., Lambda, Step Aurora, Glue, SQL).
    • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for these positions. -Additional Skills/Preferences:
      • 5+ years of Information Technology experience.
      • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and investigative skills.
      • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technology areas (strong learning agility).
      • Knowledge of Agile principles and frameworks (e.g., Scrum, SAFe).
      • Experience with user-centric design.
      • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority.
