Job Description:

The Process Mechanical Subject Matter Expert (SME) has the responsibility for providing technical expertise and leadership in the planning, design, implementation, and support of manufacturing and utility processes. In this role, the Process Mechanical SME will be responsible for providing technical support for the design and delivery team. They will assist in defining User Requirements as well as participate in the review of design drawings and specifications. They also may be asked to participate and lead Factory Acceptance Testing, FAT, and support commissioning and qualification. They will be expected to work closely with C&Q resources and owner technical experts to assure design and delivered processes meet the owners' requirements.

The Process Engineer must have strong technical knowledge and skills of process piping, process equipment, process design and associated support systems. They must have demonstrated the ability to review and comment on design documents and provide clear feedback. Candidate must then also be comfortable in supervising the construction and implementation of the design. They need a good working knowledge of the project delivery process including planning, design, construction and commissioning, and qualification. This position will work with Project/Construction Managers, partner firms, contractors, vendors, C&Q, and owner representatives to design deliver, and start up new facilities and systems.

KEY OBJECTIVES

Leadership

The Process Mechanical QSME must be able to lead groups of people through the design phases of a project including User Requirement development, Design input, and review as well as lead FATs. This could include providing direction, schedule, and oversight of other's deliverables and work.

Design Expertise

The Process Mechanical SME must understand the intent of and participate in the development of User Requirements. They must review design drawings and specifications and provide timely feedback to the design team.

Project Delivery

The Process Mechanical SME must be able to work with clients, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful project execution. The candidate should be capable of overseeing implementation of design at the jobsite, identify, and communicate issues, and facilitate their resolution. The candidate must also be capable of determining requirements and approaches for testing at both system and equipment levels.

Documentation

The Process Mechanical SME must be able to create and organize documentation to meet project requirements. This includes creation and assembly of turnover packages. The candidate must be able to effectively document, track, and drive resolution of issues identified in design and construction.

Start-up Technical Support

The Process Mechanical SME must be capable of leading/or participating in equipment and systems start-up. In this role, they must be knowledgeable of safety aspects as well as support commissioning and qualification activities.

Systems Support

The Process Mechanical SME may be asked to support the Owner's engineering and operations staff during the early days of operations. In this role, they often leaned on technical knowledge and skills regarding the newly delivered equipment and systems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong technical knowledge and skills in Process Mechanical systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working with chemical, pharmaceutical, bioprocesses, etc., or utilities such as steam generation, WFI generation, etc.
  • Effective meeting management skills SKILLS & ABILITIES
    • Ability to both speak and write clearly.
    • Anticipate scope changes, and implement safely with quality, speed, and value.
    • Ability and willingness to dig into details.
    • Ability to work independently with little day-to-day direction.
    • Ability to work with a technical mindset in both design and construction. EDUCATION/TECHNICAL SKILLS
      • S. Engineering- Mechanical/Chemical or 10 years equivalent experience in Mechanical Disciplines - Required
      • Construction related experience - Required
      • Technical background in industry/military - Desired
      • Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint capable - Required
      • Experience in hygienic systems and processes - Desired LOGISTICS
        • Office/Field Work varies based on demand
        • Travel possible - international possible (Passport Required)
