Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Research Investigator in the Systems & Synthetic Biology group within Crop Protection Discovery and Development located in Indianapolis, IN. We are seeking a synthetic biologist to develop and execute metabolic engineering strategies with diverse microbial species that produce sustainable crop protection chemistry products and precursors. You will work closely with other molecular and microbial biologists, metabolomics experts, fermentation scientists, and engineers in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities ? How will you help us grow?
Design and execute independent cloning projects that deploy modern molecular biology methods.
Collaborate with High Throughput Screening and Bioprocessing groups to design the evaluation of engineered strains.
Develop new techniques for engineering target microbes, e.g., Actinomyces.
Provide technical mentoring to associate scientists and technicians.
Deliver internal presentations and research reports.
QualificationsRequirements ? What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?
Ph. D. degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
5+ years of experience using molecular cloning methods.
Experience working with actinomycetes.
Understanding of secondary metabolite biosynthesis.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse, collaborative environment.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Postdoctoral experience (Preferred). Experience with fermentation platforms (Preferred). Experience using CRISPR techniques for genome editing and knock down analysis (Preferred).
