The Strategic Account Executive is the owner of the client relationship and is accountable for renewing the customer year over year in the 100 - 3,000 lives segment. The SAE manages ongoing client, broker and consultant relationships for an assigned book of business and is responsible for persistency goals and upselling new business expansion for both medical growth and ancillary within their book. They are responsible for representing their clients internally as advocate and coordinating with other functional areas within the company to implement client benefits, complete projects and address service needs. Will work closely with new business sales teams on prospective clients to support finalist meetings and manage implementation when cases are sold. Strategic Account Executive is responsible for the up-selling of appropriate services and ancillary products to clients, renewal of existing contracts and retention of membership and client satisfaction.

Must be self-sufficient, able to take direction and review training materials as provided timely, as well as be able to work in a less structured environment with minimal supervision. -May be a resource, coach and teacher to others. Must be able to assess and interpret customer needs and requirements and identify solutions and company capabilities. Can translate concepts into practice. -Able to work on complex problems and issues and provide innovative and effective solutions that support both the client and the company's goals and objectives.This is a highly incentivized role. -



Primary Responsibilities: -



  • Customer (employer) loyalty and satisfaction, as measured by survey results and persistency
  • Establish, cultivate and manage the customer relationship at multiple levels, serving as a healthcare consultant and trusted business advisor to these customers
  • Establish, cultivate and manage relationships with consultants and brokers, recognizing the value they bring to our customers
  • Create the strategic retention and growth plan for each assigned customer, documenting and maintaining the plan within the formal Strategic Account Plan tool
  • Strategically plan, negotiate and influence the interactions and relationships with customers, their brokers/consultants and internal team members to achieve strategic account goals
  • Value delivery to customer including plan performance, account management and service results
  • Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge base of assigned customers, beyond the traditional healthcare-focused information/knowledge, to become an extension of the customer's business
  • Facilitate the lifecycle of the customer relationship from RFP to renewal
  • Clearly demonstrate the value propositions for specialty and ancillary business to improve customer growth and retention
  • Lead and leverage a team of internal team members as part of the customer's Strategic Account Team to strategically direct the customer's relationship with UnitedHealth Group
  • Strategically plan and meet with customers quarterly, identifying trends and offering solutions per the consultative and solutioning process
  • Prepare, host and follow-up an annual strategic planning session with the customer
  • Determine and clearly articulate the value story, trend drivers and tracking of solutions performance to the customer

    One year of post-high school education can be substituted/is equivalent to one year of experience

    Required Qualifications: -



    • TX Sales Insurance license or ability to obtain within 60 days
    • Maintain valid driver's license
    • 2+ years of strategic and consultative selling experience within the Group Employee Benefits industry
    • Proven track record of over 2+ years of working with senior-level executives for client relationship management and consultation within the Insurance industry in the Key Accts/Mid Market space
    • Proven excellent negotiation / influence, collaboration, and listening skills
    • Proven excellent messaging, positioning and presentation of information for customer impact and influence
    • Proven solid work management skills - identify a goal and the steps needed for accomplishment and proactively manage action steps to accomplish goal
    • Proven solid business and financial acumen
    • Reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX market -


      Preferred Qualification:

      • 5+ years of strategic and consultative selling experience within the Insurance industry
