DepartmentROBERT H. MCKINNEY SCHOOL OF L (IN-LAW-IUINA)Job SummaryDepartment-Specific Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements long-range strategic plans and goals for the Office of Professional Development and Pro Bono Program.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees the execution of employer and alumni outreach programs designed to increase utilization of office services by legal employers.
  • Serves as a career advisor to students and alumni. Provides information regarding career options, general job search strategies, judicial clerkships, personnel issues, and professional development (The law school's Office of Professional Development provides services to the school's Juris Doctor (JD); Master of Law (LL.M.); and Master of Jurisprudence (M.J.) students).
  • Oversees the development and coordination of all recruitment and employer services, fall and spring on-campus interviewing programs, job fairs, on-line job posting and resume services.
  • Organizes and oversees the development and execution of educational seminars, programs and related events sponsored or co-sponsored by the Office of Professional Development.
  • Supervises the Office of Professional Development staff, including making hiring decisions, direction and assignment of work duties, disciplinary issues, performance appraisals, and training.
  • Constructs and oversees the creation, editing, and production of all career publications, including handouts, newsletters, recruitment materials and other office publications.
  • Manages the compilation and completion of statistical data with other staff, which includes the Career Services' portions of the American Bar Association and U.S. News & World Report Employment Questionnaires, the law school's report for the National Association for Law Placement, and other surveys as needed.General Responsibilities
    • Provides highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to define employer relations methodologies and standards; provides direction and guidance on high priority employer relations projects/initiatives.
    • Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives, including managing project timelines/deliverables and developing resource plans for multi-project/multi-phase employer relations initiatives.
    • Conducts a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to hiring, promotion, performance management, and dismissal.
    • Manages high level assignments and allocation of employer relations resources, including negotiating and coordinating initiatives that involve staff in other departments/areas/teams; may coordinate large-scale employer relations projects with a wide audiences in support of academic initiatives.
    • Makes budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensures cost containment.
    • Researches and stays up-to-date on new industry employer relations standards, technologies, policies, and procedures; responsible for the implementation of new protocols/procedures to address business needs.
    • Works collaboratively with other employer relations leaders across departments in recommending standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures.
    • Prepares management reports and summaries for senior administration, executive, steering and advisory committees; acts as advisor to executive committees; serves on various university committees, communities of practice, and task forces related to employer relations.QualificationsCombinations of related education and experience may be considered.       • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or related field. Preferred
