Job Description:
General Devices is looking for the best brake press operator to
lead our Brake Press team!!! The successful candidate will be
responsible for driving the correct operation of precision
measuring instruments, fabricating sheet metal products, and
ensuring high-quality results. This role requires strong technical
skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a
fast-paced environment. 5+ years of Accupress experience
needed.
Experienced Press Brake Operator or Lead only will be considered
for this position
Hours are: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM Mon thru Friday
$26 to $29 starting rate. Pay rate may be negotiable based
knowledge and experience in the craft.
What you will do:
Lead a team of Press Brake Operators, mentoring, coaching, and
teaching best practices and reducing errors
Prepare the brake presses for operation by selecting the
appropriate tooling, installing dies, and making necessary
adjustments to ensure accurate bending, angles, and dimensions.
Confirm sufficient raw material to run and complete job
Assist with loading and unload material to and from the press brake
with or without assistance from a team member for heavier
materials, as needed
Teach team members on Accupress and/or Bystronic press brake to
achieve the desired result as required by the customer
Crosstrain team members so that all team members know the machines
and the customer jobs
Determine working tonnage
Know the types of bending (air bending, bottom bending, coining,
etc) and know the different tooling tolerances for every punch and
die used.
Read blueprints or technical drawings to achieve precise bending.
(must be able to read prints)
Produce a blank, perform a layout and understand the principles of
bend allowances
Use measuring instruments such as calipers, measuring tapes,
gauges, etc
Examine raw materials for defects or imperfections that could
impact the bending process
Participate in quality control measures to ensure that products
meet the highest standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety
protocols and company policies.
Follow all safety rules and guidelines very strictly
May work in other areas and different departments operating other
machines depending on business needs.
DAILY: Ensure team members wipe all tools, back gauges, and guides
with dry cloth. Remove tooling and rest weight of press brake on
wood blocks or dampening materials
WEEKLY: inspect & tighten loose machine parts and clean screen
controls.
Monthly: Work with Maintenance to check hydraulic oil levels, check
for leaks and clean pump motors. Remove and clean filters on vents
and cooling fan
Annually: Work with Maintenance to perform annual PMs.
What you bring:
A level head with the ability to defuse tension, provide clear
direction, and motivate people to complete their jobs accurately
and on-time
A positive attitude and the willingness to help where needed and
learn from others
An excellent track record of showing up to work daily
Proven experience as a Press Brake Operator with strong technical
skill
Track record of successfully leading and coaching others
Able to set up jobs on an Accupress Brake machine and make multiple
bends in 1 piece of metal.
Strong technical skills including using precision measuring
instruments.
Familiarity with stamping presses and sheet metal fabrication
techniques.
Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced
environment.
Physical stamina to stand on cement for 8 or more hours per
day.
Intermediate computer skills important
Arm and hand mobility
Able to lift and move heavy materials up to 50 pounds
intermittently.
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
with others.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical
certifications or associate's degree preferred.
