Facilities Maintenance Technician

Job Description:

OverviewKeep Associate Director of Facilities appraised of all projects, buildings deficiencies, inspections, and repairs. Provide maintenance support for entire Campus. Candidate will receive on the job training.
Primary ResponsibilitiesThe following responsibilities describe the general nature of work for employees in this position, but this is not intended as an exclusive or all-inclusive inventory.

  • Help maintain and adjust, Campus HVAC automation systems
  • Help maintain and adjust Campus lighting automation systems
  • Help maintain and repair Campus plumbing and electrical systems
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance on Air Handling Units
  • Oversee building maintenance and troubleshooting when assigned to work weekends or evenings
  • Respond to other staff members via radio traffic
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner
  • Responsible for maintaining miscellaneous types of door hardware
  • General Maintenance including, light bulb replacement, adding salt to water softeners, repairing carpet tiles etc.
  • Responsible for moving and assembly/dis-assembly of office furniture
  • Other duties as assigned

    Required Skills
    • Basic electrical and plumbing skills
    • Must work well in a team environment
    • Must be able to respond immediately when on call with mobile phone
    • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and electrical measuring devices
    • Ability to read blueprints, work under pressure and change, and in high areas on ladders or lifts
    • Ability to read write and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Ability to effectively present information in one on one, and group situations to other employees
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percentages
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
    • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
      Education and/or Experience
      • High School Diploma or Equivalent
      • 2 years relevant work experience or trade school certification
