Material Handler Memphis, TN 38106, USA Req 14709 Wednesday, January 5, 2022 $500 bonus after ninety days for all new employees. Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Material Handler to join our dynamic team at our Metal-Prep location at 1836 Dock Street Memphis TN 38113. This position pays $16 an hour. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Responsible for preparing materials to be used for packaging and shipping of finished coils. Responsible for packaging finished coils in a safe manner and moving those coils in a safe manner to a designated location for finished goods. Responsible for verifying that finished goods (coils) are properly identified with an identification ticket prior to moving them to a storage area. Responsible for verifying that finished goods (coils) are not damaged or visibly non-conforming prior to moving them to a designated storage area. Responsible for quarantining non-conforming material (using the HFI process) and notifying Quality Control when non-conforming conditions exist. Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Management System in place at Metal Coaters. Communicates daily with internal personnel from Maintenance, Operations and Quality Control in order to help resolve any problems and help achieve company goals. Environmental Impacts of this Position: The Material Handler has a responsibility of avoiding environmental impacts such as; the release of: oils, grease from forklifts and cranes, solvents, paints and various other chemicals by accidental puncture, while performing your daily duties. You also: have the responsibility to recycle all recyclable materials such as: paper, plastics, cardboard, ink cartridges etc. Good housekeeping practices are essential as a preventative measure. If a spill occurs, Metal Coaters (Spill Response, Log and Report Procedure) must be followed. Qualifications/Requirements: To perform satisfactorily in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Language Skills: The ability to read and comprehend documents including: safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and simple correspondence. Also, the ability to communicate information in small group situation's to other employees. Mathematical Skills : Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions and percentages. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to perform work instructions that are furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Also, the ability to solve problem's which involve multiple variables in a standard situation. Other Skills & Abilities : Incumbent is required to drive a forklift and use various power tools. The incumbent should also be capable of recognizing metal defects. Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; bend; stoop; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance. The employee will be required to be capable of lifting a minimum weight of 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close-up and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee performs near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold or heat. The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate.
