Job Description:
At Browning Day, our portfolio spans a broad range of project
types. You can anticipate working on projects within civic,
cultural, healthcare, higher education, hospitality, mixed-use,
preservation and reuse, sports and wellness, and the workplace. Our
success is based on the client's vision coming to life and includes
a team of Architects, Interior Designers, Landscape Architects, and
support staff who play a part in solving complex design problems.
We are seeking a Project Manager who will add diversity in
experience and who can be responsible for multiple projects.
Reports to: Studio Director
The primary role is to deliver solutions that meet the functional
needs of our projects and create lasting, memorable spaces that
bring value to our communities and our clients.
Responsible for one or more projects, schedule, and financial
awareness related to allocated fees for architecture projects.
Accountable for, but not limited to, conformance to project scope,
documentation quality, client and design team interaction,
consultant coordination, and is an integral part of the production
team. A studio resource who can provide design and production
guidance.
Core Responsibilities:
Executing the overarching design of a project per the Browning Day
design process.
Using technical knowledge, communication, and coordination skills
to meet project requirements.
Mentoring the work of less experienced staff.
Participating in selected marketing and business development
opportunities.
Coordinating the project quality, schedule, and performance with
the other disciplines.
Responsible for maintaining positive client relationships
throughout the project.
Advise on design schedule and consultant team makeup in conjunction
with the Project Manager.
Coordinate programming efforts, including information gathering
site analysis and site inventory of existing conditions,
identifying opportunities and constraints.
Coordinate project schedules and budgeted hours and adjust during
the design process.
Coordination of consultants, sub-consultants, other disciplines,
and contractors.
Correspond with internal staff, consultants, contractors and other
disciplines, and contractors.
Assists with documentation and timely distribution of all meeting
notes to project teams.
Promotes innovative design concepts which are practical,
aesthetically pleasing, safe, and code-compliant, and meet the
intended purpose of the project.
Incorporates and considers sustainable design solutions into all
projects.
Select and specify appropriate materials and associated
details.
Impact all phases of design, documentation, specifications, and
construction administration.
Implements the QA/QC comments and design review at each phase of
the project.
Instrumental in the construction administration phase, responding
to RFI's, ASI's, and shop drawings, and is involved in field site
reviews and reports.
Implements Browning Day standards for all project deliverables, and
processes.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Possess creative talent in the communication of complex and diverse
conceptual design ideas.
Foster mutual trust and confidence by developing relationships in a
team environment.
Integral in guiding the internal team and external consultants
working toward the common goal.
Knowledge of architectural finishes, lighting, signage, etc.
Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and provide
high-quality service to clients.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
Determine focus on design, building science, and/or management.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in
the production of technical plans, drawings, and models.
Knowledge of all zoning, codes and ADA/FHA/accessibility
requirements, and applicable codes pertaining to site design
considerations.
Ability to graphically communicate design concepts.
Prepares and conducts client presentations.
Proficiency in the following:
MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Understand the capabilities of AutoCAD
Understand the capabilities of 3D rendering software (Lumion,
etc.)
Preferred knowledge of Affinity Photo, Designer, and Publisher
Highly preferred: Sketchup and Revit
Satisfactory completion of a background screening.
May require COVID-19 vaccination and boosters.
A Licensed Architect (or working toward licensure).
Typical professional experience: 5 years
