Responsibilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join our customer programs team to support energy, sustainability, and infrastructure work with utility clients across the US. Our customer programs team is a community of experts working on the front lines of the utility industry transition. In short, we partner with our clients to design innovative programs, evaluate and optimize program contributions towards climate, energy, and other goals, and continuously improve the program experience for customers.

This specific position requires someone with subject matter expertise in evaluation, measurement, and verification (EM&V) to evaluate the net impacts of efficiency and demand-side management programs (i.e., net-to-gross/attribution research expertise). We are seeking candidates with experience in primary research, survey design, program evaluation and net-to-gross analysis and who enjoy and value the creative process of quantifying the counterfactual. While we can offer training for the right person, candidates who have experience with and enthusiasm for measuring the net impacts from utility demand-side management programs within the residential and commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors, including downstream, midstream, and upstream programs, are preferred.

Responsibilities:

+ Manage, plan, and oversee net-to-gross studies from design through delivery

+ Collaborate across evaluation project teams to design and review net-to-gross studies and analysis

+ Develop, document, and implement procedures for net-to-gross approaches across evaluation projects. Identify and manage necessary QC stages throughout processes and apply to projects accordingly.

+ Assist in ensuring net-to-gross approaches are in alignment with relevant regulatory requirements and evaluation plans

+ Review study designs for approach, defensibility, appropriateness, and accuracy

+ Assist in training staff to conduct straightforward studies with oversight and tools and lead the development of complex studies as needed

+ Drawing on our team's solutions and delivery expertise, develop strategies to meet specific client needs and regulatory requirements, manage work plans, staffing, deadlines, and budgets for multiple projects simultaneously

+ Oversee the development of high-quality and client-ready work products

+ Guide net-to-gross analysis teams as they deal with uncertainty in evolving and cutting-edge topics

+ Participate in solution innovation and sales efforts with current and new clients across markets

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in a social science and/or related quantitative discipline (e.g., engineering, econometrics, accounting) and/or experience with primary research and evaluation:

+ Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of relevant industry or consulting experience

+ Master's degree and 5+ years of relevant industry or consulting experience

+ Field experience collecting primary data through surveys

+ Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Ability to manage projects while leading and collaborating with a close-knit team

+ Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines

+ Demonstrated attention to detail

+ Strong interpersonal skills, including experience working with clients

+ Strong interest in energy efficiency and sustainability

+ An inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Ability to travel as needed (-5% travel annually pending COVID safety)

+ Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint

+ No sponsorship available for this position

Desired:

+ Experience with evaluation, measurement, and verification in the utility space

+ Strong preference for candidates with experience in net-to-gross analysis of energy savings for energy efficiency programs in the residential, commercial, or industrial sectors and multiple types of programs (such as upstream, midstream, downstream)

+ Understanding of utility stakeholder and regulatory environment

+ Experience developing and delivering presentations to clients or regulatory stakeholder audiences

+ Excellent at visualizing data, synthesizing insights, and storytelling with data

+ Experience training and mentoring junior staff

+ Experience with R, SPSS, or other analysis tools

+ Project management training or certification (e.g., PMI/PMP curriculum)

Additional Requirements

+ The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that would prevent the candidate from performing the job responsibilities as described.

+ The salary range for this role is $80,700 to $121,200 USD depending on directly relevant work experience.
