Diseases and Global Health in the Department of Pediatrics at the

health in Indiana and around the world! Job SummaryThe research
technician will assist Drs. Chandy John and Dibyadyuti Datta as
Principal Investigators within the Wells Center for Pediatric
Research, Ryan White Center for Pediatric Infectious Diseases and
Global Health. Research profile of the lab includes polymerase
chain reaction (PCR) testing, ELISA and Luminex testing for
antibodies and analytes, cell culture, parasite culture, protein
assays, genotyping and microscopy. Department-Specific
Responsibilities
- Responsible for conducting technical aspects of research
studies including, but not limited to, data quality checks (QC),
reviewing and revising standard operating protocols (SOPs),
production and collection of data, organization and maintenance of
the lab based in the US.
- Responsible for international shipment management of reagents
and samples with collaborating CHILD Lab based in Kampala, Uganda.
The US-based lab conducts investigative research related to malaria
immuno-epidemiology, the pathogenesis of severe malaria, and
interactions between malaria and other disease states like iron
deficiency and sickle cell disease.
- Performs sample management quality checks and data quality
checks (QC).
- Keeps organized analytical data of performed experiments in a
lab notebook.
- Provides support for equipment maintenance as needed.
- Acts as a liaison to students and laboratory personnel in US
and Uganda.
- Maintains laboratory supply requisition and management.
- May train junior-level staff.
- May help plan experiments or short-term goals. General
Responsibilities
- Performs a wide variety of complex experiments and reports
results.
- Organizes analytical data of performed experiments. May submit
findings for publication.
- Installs and maintains research equipment.
- Acts as a liaison to students and laboratory personnel for
training.
- Maintains laboratory supply requisition and management.
- Trains junior-level staff.
- Plans experiments and short-term goals.
- May require travel in order to service various research sites.

Conditions / DemandsThe role regularly requires the ability to
effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability
to move about the work environment and to position oneself to
operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the
ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will
occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this

IndianaAdvertised SalaryThe salary range for this position is
$42,000 - $47,000. Salary determination is based on experience,
