seeks an Analytical Chemist (R5 - R6) to engage with scientists
across Eli Lilly’s Development and Manufacturing organizations to
identify and develop ground-breaking analytical technologies as
well as trends in analytical chemistry and chemical engineering.
The scientist will enable the design, development, and
implementation of analytical methodologies for the physical
property and solid-state characterization of raw materials, drug
substances and drug products. The candidate will be working in a
multidisciplinary team environment, utilizing multiple analytical
techniques, including but not limited to scanning electron and
optical microscopy, spectroscopy, particle size techniques, and
crystal form analysis by X-ray powder diffraction. In addition, the
candidate will also develop image analysis and instrument
integration strategies to build automated data analysis workflows
and automated sampling from crystallization processes. LI-DNI
Position requires a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry,
Chemistry, or a related field and 2 years of academic or employment
experience with optical spectroscopy, and instrument engineering in
the characterization and quantitation of physical properties.
Background in software or programming (python or R) to enable
communication between instrument platforms. Academic or employment
experience must include a minimum of 2 years of experience with
data interpretation, including the application of chemometrics,
multivariate modelling, understanding of machine learning tools,
and other data manipulation methods; and 2 years of experience with
multiple analytical techniques, including microscopy, spectroscopy,
image analysis, and X-ray powder diffraction. Up to 5% domestic and

on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic
location. The anticipated wage for this position is $136,620.00
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company
bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
